Prayer Starter - Wednesday, September 24, 2025 " Pray Like Jesus - for His Disciples"
Good Morning, Friend -
Today's prayer from Jesus - John 17
When we read Jesus’ prayer for His disciples, we glimpse the depth of His love and concern for those who follow Him. He lifts them before the Father, asking first and foremost for their protection from the evil one. Jesus knows the road ahead will not be easy—challenges, persecution, and trials await them—but He longs for their safety and endurance in faith.
He also prays for their sanctification, that they would be set apart and strengthened by the truth of God’s Word. Jesus understands that only by clinging to the Father’s truth can they stand firm and carry out the mission He is entrusting to them.
This prayer is a window into the heart of our Savior. He does not focus on His own suffering, though the cross is near. Instead, He prays for His disciples—for their faith, their growth, and their future work in spreading the gospel. In this, we see the heart of a Shepherd who loves His sheep and prays earnestly for their well-being.
As we reflect on this prayer, we are reminded that Jesus intercedes for us even now - Just as He prayed for the disciples.
Oh, Mighty Father:
Thank You for loving me as Jesus loved His disciples. Thank You for showing me how Jesus prayed for my protection, my growth in truth, and my faithfulness to Your mission through His prayer for the disciples.
Sanctify me by Your Word, strengthen me to stand firm against the enemy, and help me to remain faithful even in times of trial.
May my life reflect Your love and bring glory to the Father. Amen.
I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. (Verse 15)
