Friday, June 5, 2026 #6 Jesus Prays Before Mission

Image
God Responds when Jesus Prayed   Luke 3:21–22 " When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: 'You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased. '" — Luke 3:21–22 Of all the details Luke could have highlighted, he notes that heaven opened while Jesus was praying . Not after a sermon. Not during a miracle. In prayer. At the threshold of His public ministry, Jesus paused to pray, and the Father responded with affirmation, the Spirit with presence, and heaven itself with open access. We often want God's power before we've sought His face. Jesus shows us the order: prayer first, then mission. What new season or calling is before you? Begin it on your knees. Father, as I stand at the doorways You've placed before me, help me not to rush through them without first pausing to pray. Like Jesus at th...

Jesus Prays for Children and the Humble Matthew 19:13–15 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.' When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there." — Matthew 19:13–15 Good morning, Prayer Warrior.  This is a great passage to show us how Jesus valued prayer. The disciples saw an interruption. Jesus saw an appointment. He was busy. Jesus was teaching. He was fielding difficult questions from the Pharisees. He was busy.  Yet when children were brought to Him, He stopped, placed His hands on them, and prayed over each one. No one important was watching. There was nothing strategic about it. Jesus blessed them simply because they were there and because they were His. This is the heart of God on full display:  unhurried, tender, unnoticed to the press....

Prayers of Jesus, No. 4 Praying in Solitary Places Mark 1:35 Good morning, Friends: "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." — Mark 1:35 The day before had been full. Jesus had preached, cast out a demon, healed Peter's mother-in-law, and ministered to a crowd gathered at the door. By any measure, He had earned a morning of rest. Instead, He rose before dawn and slipped away to be alone with the Father. This was not Jesus fulfilling an obligation. This was Jesus doing what He could not do without.  He needed to spend time with the source, God, His Father. The more the demands increased, the more deliberately He withdrew. Busyness is not a reason to skip prayer. For Jesus, it was the reason to pray. Solitude was not His retreat from ministry. Prayer is the engine that drives it.   If Jesus needed prayer, how much more do I need it? Let's pray: Lord, the noise of l...

Tuesday, June 2, 2026 # 3 Father, Thank You for Hearing Me

Image
Father, Thank You for Hearing Me Scripture: John 11:41–42 Standing before the tomb of Lazarus, Jesus faced what seemed impossible. Lazarus had been dead for four days. Yet before He called Lazarus from the grave, Jesus first looked toward heaven and prayed, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.” Notice that Jesus thanked the Father before the miracle occurred. (Two prayers in a row of this behavior).  His confidence was not based on what He could see but on His relationship with the Father. Jesus knew that God heard Him and that God was at work, even before the answer became visible. As adults, we often pray while carrying burdens, uncertainty, and unanswered questions. Jesus reminds us that prayer is not simply asking for help - rather, prayer is trusting that God hears us. We may not always know when or how God will answer, but we can rest in the confidence that our Father listens to His children. Today, thank God not only for answered prayers but also for the...

Monday, June 1, 2026 Praying Like Jesus #2 Gratitude

Image
Monday Morning Prayer  Father, Thank You for Your Provision Matthew 14:19 Before the miracle happened, Jesus gave thanks. Standing before a crowd of more than five thousand people, the disciples saw a problem. They saw empty stomachs and limited resources. Jesus saw something different. He took five loaves and two fish, looked toward heaven, and thanked the Father. What is remarkable is that Jesus gave thanks before the bread was multiplied. His gratitude was rooted not in what He could see, but in confidence that God would provide. We often wait to thank God until after our prayers are answered. Jesus teaches us to trust God's provision even before we see the outcome. Whether our need is physical, emotional, or spiritual, our Heavenly Father knows what we need and is able to provide in ways we may not expect. Today, let us follow Jesus' example by giving thanks for God's faithfulness before the miracle unfolds. Father, thank You for Your provision in my life. You...
