Prayer Starter - Monday, March 9, 2026 Psalm 73 - 74 When Faith is Tested

Good Morning, I hope you have a great week, but if your faith is short, this psalm is for you.

Psalms 73 and 74 speak to moments when faith feels shaken. In Psalm 73, the writer honestly admits a struggle many people quietly feel: seeing the wicked prosper while the faithful suffer. For a moment, his confidence wavers. Life does not seem fair, and doubt begins to creep in.

But everything changes when he turns his focus back to God. In God’s presence, he gains perspective. He remembers that temporary success is not the same as lasting security. What truly matters is being near to the Lord. The psalm ends with a powerful declaration: But as for me, it is good to be near God.”

Psalm 74 continues the cry during a time of destruction and national crisis. The people feel abandoned and ask why God seems silent. Yet even in their confusion, they remember God’s power and the mighty works He has done before. Their prayer becomes a call for God to act again.

Reading these psalms reminds us that faith does not mean we never struggle with doubt. Faith means we bring our questions and frustrations to God instead of walking away from Him. When life feels unfair or uncertain, the best place to stand is still near the Lord.

When your faith is tested, stay close to God. His presence brings clarity, strength, and hope that circumstances alone cannot provide.

Holy Father, sometimes my faith withers. Sometimes, I feel like life is handing me lemons and I can't even make lemonade. Please, Lord, no matter what the challenges I am facing, please help me to keep my faith in You and to trust You!

Lord, sometimes I am frustrated because life is not fair. Evil seems like it is winning and Good suffers.  I guess I may never understand on this side of heaven, but until then, help me to seek You first.

Pray your personal needs - God wants to hear from you.

In the Name of Jesus,

Amen

Nevertheless, I am continually with you;
    you hold my right hand.
24
You guide me with your counsel,
    and afterward you will receive me to glory.
25
Whom have I in heaven but you?
    And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.
