Friday, April 3, 2026 Good Friday, Psalm 115–116 – Suffering & Trust
Psalm 115 reminds us, “Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to Your name be the glory.” Even in suffering, the focus is not on human strength, but on God’s faithfulness. As Jesus hung on the cross, mocked and rejected, He was still fulfilling the Father’s will - bringing glory through sacrifice.
Psalm 116 echoes the pain of that moment: “The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me…” (v. 3). These words reflect the weight of the cross. Yet they also point to hope: “You, Lord, have delivered me from death” (v. 8).
On Good Friday, we stand in the tension between suffering and trust. The cross was real. The pain was real. But so was the promise.
Jesus trusted the Father - even in death.
And because of that… death would not be the end.
Lord, in moments of pain and uncertainty, help me to trust You as Jesus did. Teach me to give You glory even in hardship, knowing that You are working beyond what I can see.
Pray your personal prayer - it might go like this: Holy Father, thank You for loving us so much that You sent Your Son to die for me. I know the cross is real - I believe -, but it is just difficult to understand sometimes.
I love You, Lord, for You heard my voice; You heard my cry for mercy....Because You turned Your ear to me. Thank You, Lord, God Almighty! Help me to trust.
