Halloween often brings images of darkness, fear, and things that go bump in the night. Yet for followers of Christ, this season can serve as a reminder of a deeper truth: light always overcomes darkness. In John 1:5 , we read, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” No matter how deep the shadows seem—whether in the world around us or in our own hearts—Jesus remains the unchanging Light. His presence drives out fear, replacing it with peace. As we see candles flickering in pumpkins and lights glowing on porches, we can remember that our lives, too, are meant to shine. We are called to reflect Christ’s light so that others may see hope, love, and truth through us—even on a night that celebrates fright.   When I was a child my mother would remind me to say my prayers.  Before I would lay down, I would kneel by my bed and "say my prayers."  As a child I don't recall what I expected, but I felt it was my duty and I did it. God was distant to me but I wanted to please Him. As I grew older I started reading the Bible for myself. I began to see God as not that far off. The older I got the more I realized He was a personal God who cared for me and wanted to see me grow as a Christian. Prayer was no longer a ritual but an opportunity to actually talk to God. He would listen and He cared. From time to time I would actually sense that He was answering me.  We have a relationship with God and it begins by us realizing what Jesus has done for us. Through this relationship we may grow close to God and we do that communicating through prayer. Ephesians 3:12 tells us, we "may approach God with freedom and confidence." This verse encourages believers to come together in community, something often practiced on Sunday mornings. “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed” ( Mark 1:35 ). This example from Jesus himself shows the importance of starting our day with prayer and communion with God. “Praise the Lord, you his servants; praise the name of the Lord. Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forevermore” ( Psalm 113:1-2 ).   Dear God, as this new day and week begin, we pause to acknowledge Your presence. Good Saturday morning- Holy Father, We start this day out with praise and adoration for You.  You are our God and You are making us to be the people You desire.  Thank You, Lord, for all You do for us. I want to thank You for some specific blessings in my life.... List them.  Be specific. Name them one by one. Ideas- spouse, church family, children, parents, work opportunities,   you state what is on your mind. Please forgive me for my wrong doings and help me to focus on serving You.  Help me to forgive others if they trespassed by me. Help me to love the unlovable because sometimes that might have been me. Bless my weekend.  Allow me to rest, but fill my soul so I will be ready to worship with the family tomorrow. Good morning, One of the most important things in a believer’s life is to stay on fire for God. Our walk with Him isn’t meant to grow cold or dry. God wants our hearts to stay full of love, passion, and a desire to obey Him every day.  Since this is the middle of the week, I thought, today we should focus our pray talk with God on keeping the fire burning. God told His people, “ The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out. ” ( Leviticus 6:13, NIV ). That fire reminds us of our faith — it needs care and attention. Prayer, worship, and time in God’s Word keep that flame alive. When we stay close to God, His Spirit renews our hearts and helps us live with joy and purpose. Dear Christian Friend - This morning my heart is on mission work. Missions is the at the heart of spreading the good news about Jesus.  Some people can go and do mission work. Some support mission work through financial donations and some support mission work through prayer.   Through prayer, we also participate in the mission, even if we are not the ones traveling. It becomes a way to support, encourage, and strengthen missionaries as they carry the message of Christ.
