The study of Ephesians highlights the central role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. Paul reminds us that the Spirit is both our seal and our strength. In Ephesians 1:13–14 , he writes that when we believed in Christ, we were “marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession.” The Spirit is God’s personal mark of ownership upon us, a guarantee that we belong to Him and will one day share fully in His eternal promises. But the Spirit is not only a seal of future hope. Paul also describes Him as our present source of strength. In Ephesians 3:16 , Paul prays that believers would be “strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” The Spirit renews, empowers, and equips us daily to walk in Christ’s love.
