Today's Prayer Starter

Philippians 1:3-6

I thank my God upon every rememberance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

As we build our relationship with God remember the Main  Thing (Love the Lord with all of your heart, all your soul and all of your mind) and the second Main Thing is to love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37-39).

So let's pray for others. In doing so you let God know you really care about others - and more importantly, it will help you to really care about others since you took the time to pray for them.

I will share this prayer starter with you...

I thank you, God, for my friends - name them...
for my family - name them...


and then add a blessing as Paul did. 

I pray that you will continue to work through the lives and actions of --- name them again.

You can pray for your your foes, too.  Whoever you are praying for remember to:
 1. Thank God for them. 
2. Name them by name.  
3. Ask God to bless them (whether they are doing well or need help) - ask God to bless them by name.  

Here is my prayer for this morning.

Dear God, I want to thank you for my friend and brother in Christ. He has been praying for change and now you asked him to take on a big role. I pray you will bless him and those he cares so much about.  I pray you will bless him and his wife. I pray you will give him strength and wisdom, patience and discernment. Lord, I pray your blessings on my friend (and then I would name him).

Try it!  

P.S.  When Paul prayed this prayer for these Christians he also told them. He wrote them a letter and said, "Everytime I think about you, I pray for you."  Now that you have prayed for your someone, you might want to let them know, too.

Today's Prayer Starter Good morning! As we begin this five day journey of praying specifically to build our relationship with God, let's start with a prayer of adoration. In Psalm 8 , David prays a prayer of adoration.  "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, You have established strength because of yor foes, to still the enemy and the avenger." You can read the entire Psalm, but this morning use David's prayer to help you tell God why you believe His name is majestic in all the earth.  Try it! Prayer Starter - Thursday, June 26, 2025 Pray for a Helicopter

Good Morning, I hope you won't be offended, but I want to share an old joke with you that drives home an important point regarding what the Bible tells us about prayer and trusting in God. A religious man was trapped on the roof of his house during a bad flood. He prayed to God to save him. Before the waters were too high, a neighbor drove by and offered to take him in his truck before the water rose. He declined the offer and said "God will save me."  As the water rose, vehicles could no longer drive by and a Fire & Rescue crew came by in a boat. Again, an offer for rescue and again, the religious man said, he would wait upon the Lord.  Finally the water is destroying the house and it is near the lower levels of the roof. Another rescue attempt this time by helicopter, offers to whisk him away to safely and he declines, relying on God to save him, only to die in the great storm. Prayer Starter - Thursday, October 23, 2025. God’s Faithfulness in Every Season

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV) "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." As we grow older, life often brings unexpected challenges—health concerns, changes in relationships, and the reality of life's brevity. But in all the seasons of life, one thing remains constant: God's faithfulness. In the book of Lamentations, Jermiah the.prophet, reflects on a time of great sorrow and hardship.
