Prayer Starters - Thursday, April 17, 2025

Good Morning Friends,

In the Church, praying for one another is a potent way to show love, community, and faith.

When we pray for one another we build a strong bond that benefits both the person of prayer and the recipient of prayer. When we pray we are inviting God’s presence and involvement into our lives.

Today's scriptures are about praying for one another. These Biblical passages remind us that God hears and appreciates our intercession and show us the beauty of unselfish love.

Links all go to NIV. I have used other translations in the blog for emphasis.

James 5:16 (NIV) Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

1 Timothy 2:1 (NIV) I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—

Romans 15:30 (NKJV) Now I beg you, brethren, through the Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in prayers to God for me,

Ephesians 6:18 (NIV) And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Colossians 1:9 (NAS) For this reason we also, since the day we heard about ithave not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the [a]knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

So our prayer starter this morning is simple. Take anyone of these scripture read it out loud and then continue to speak to God. My example, "Dear God, Help me to pray in the Spirit - all the time - with my requests and prayers. This morning as I rise up and begin my day, I cannot start without thanking you for Your Church, my Church family. I want to pray for... and then name names!  Pray for the person you sit close to at services; pray for the Elders, Deacons and Ministers. Pray for the folks that help at the Harvest House. Pray for the Church Secretary. Pray for someone you don't really care for - and be bold - pray for them by name.  Pray for someone that you seldom speak to at service, but wish to.

And when you are finished... say one more prayer for someone who needs it. If you can't think of anyone, just say, "Lord, I am praying for the person that I need to pray for - tell me who it is!
Then continue to pray.

One more thing:  From time to time we want to share our prayer requests. You are always welcome to send a message back to me with your prayer requests. You don't have to give a name, but if you have permission to, you may send me named prayer request and I will share with this group so we can all pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ.

You may always email prayer requests to:  prayerstarter@gmail.com
I will post prayer request on the home page of the Blog.
