        Blessed is the one

who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers.

Not so the wicked!
    They are like chaff
    that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

- Psalm 1 (NIV)

Good Morning!  You just read Psalm chapter 1. Each day the rest of the week, we will read this same Psalm. An ancient form of praying asks the Christian, to read, or often listen to a passage of scripture as most did not read, and then reflect on the words in the passage.

After hearing the passage, the individual would go off to work for the day, but they would retain a word, phrase, or sentence from the passage they just heard.  They would take the retained word or phrase and mediate on it throughout the day as they fostered their communion with God in prayer throughout the day.

Pick a word or phrase from the passage above. I am selecting, "sit in the company of mockers."  I will think on these words all day. I will start with praying a prayer using this phrase.

Dear Lord, I want to be one who is blessed by You, so I know I need "not sit in the company of mockers." I realize I often am surrounded by non-believers, mockers, or people who just don't want to be Christ-like. Help me to avoid them.  Help me not to "sit" but to get away and step away from mockers.

Today, Dear Lord, help me to avoid those that can bring me down and help me to cling to Your word and focus on Your Spirit.  In Jesus Name, Amen.

Now Prayer Warrior - Your turn - pick one word, or phrase and pray it. Pray it all day!

Tomorrow, we will explain the four parts of divine reading as prayer.  You just practiced it today!
