Dear Prayer Warrior,
A couple of scriptures to get us thinking this morning.
John 5:19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed.
I Thessalonians 5:17 Pray continually.
Modern life has given us so many wonderful things like AI, GPS, cell phones, microwaves and antibiotics. (Yes, some of those are not all that wondeful). Yet it has also given us the tendency to separate our lives into boxes. Ex. "This is my family time," this is "work life," or "spiritual life," etc.
Many of us don't let a event in one box impact the other boxes. And this hurts us with our "prayer life." Prayer was never meant to be in one box of our lives by itself. Prayer is not meant to be one more thing to add to our already very busy life.
Here is a good saying that is worth repeating: "Don't try and develop a prayer life, seek a praying life." A praying life is one that is saturated in prayer. It is a model of what Paul told the church at Philippi..."Pray without ceasing."
There is nothing wrong about setting time for prayer. We are doing that with these morning blogs. However, our ultimate goal as Christians is to integrate prayer in everything we do. Remember this discussion of prayer began with a focus on prayer as communion. We want to communion with God throughout the day and night. We want to "walk with God" (I John 1:6)
Try to integrate prayer in every part of your life. Start with a prayer this morning. Continue with a prayer everytime you begin a new task today. Just briefly thank God for the opportunity, or ask God to watch over you as you begin the next task at moment.
Dear Lord,
As I start my day, help me to remember You all day long. Help me to recognize You as my Father, and walk with You as I go about doing the mundane tasks of my life. As my Father, watch over me and help me to communion throughout the day with You.
Because of Your Blessings,
Amen
