Prayer Starter - Saturday, June 14, 2025 Saturday Prayer



Arise and shine! It's Saturday. We try and spend a few minutes each day praying to our Lord. We do ask Him for things, but we also know it is important to spend time worshiping our God and that means we praise Him and give Him thanks!

Sometimes we just don't know what or how to pray.  The blog is here to help you focus on a topic to praise Him or petition Him. But many folks tell me, they just can't find the words to use when having a conversation with the Heavenly Father.  The Apostle Paul tells us when we are at a loss for words, to lean on the Spirit:

"Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;  and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God." (Romans 8:26-27 NASB).


Heavenly Father, as we arise this morning or as we stop and reflect on You today, hear my prayer. Sometimes I get too busy - really distracted - from doing Your will. Help me to dig deep into my heart and praise You.

I thank You for the gift of salvation. I thank You for the gift of scripture.  I praise You for giving me the opportunity to serve You, to serve others, to worship You and to call You, Father.  It is difficult for us to find the words, but help me trust Your Spirit.

Continue your prayer. Come back later today or even before you lay down for the night.  Read a few passages from God's word and rejoice in the Lord.

Here are a couple of passages that will make your heart smile:

Oil and perfume make the heart glad,
And a person’s advice is sweet to his friend.  Proverbs 27:9

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

19 Do not quench the Spirit.  I Thessalonians 5:16-19

In Psalm 8 , David prays a prayer of adoration.  "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, You have established strength because of yor foes, to still the enemy and the avenger." You can read the entire Psalm, but this morning use David's prayer to help you tell God why you believe His name is majestic in all the earth.  Try it! Prayer Starter - Thursday, June 26, 2025 Pray for a Helicopter

Good Morning, I hope you won't be offended, but I want to share an old joke with you that drives home an important point regarding what the Bible tells us about prayer and trusting in God. A religious man was trapped on the roof of his house during a bad flood. He prayed to God to save him. Before the waters were too high, a neighbor drove by and offered to take him in his truck before the water rose. He declined the offer and said "God will save me."  As the water rose, vehicles could no longer drive by and a Fire & Rescue crew came by in a boat. Again, an offer for rescue and again, the religious man said, he would wait upon the Lord.  Finally the water is destroying the house and it is near the lower levels of the roof. Another rescue attempt this time by helicopter, offers to whisk him away to safely and he declines, relying on God to save him, only to die in the great storm. Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV) "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." As we grow older, life often brings unexpected challenges—health concerns, changes in relationships, and the reality of life's brevity. But in all the seasons of life, one thing remains constant: God's faithfulness. In the book of Lamentations, Jermiah the.prophet, reflects on a time of great sorrow and hardship.
