Prayer Starter - Saturday, June 21, 2025 God is faithful. Prayer to Avoid Temptation.
It's Saturday morning. Tomorrow is the Lord's Day. Let's focus on a prayer from Jesus when He was dealing with temptation.
Luke 22:39-44 Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
Even for Jesus, it was all about the will of God. We don't always understand God's plan, but we need to trust him. And a like His disciples; we need to pray that we will not fall into temptation.
I Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Oh Lord, my Lord, How excellent is Your Name!
This morning help me to trust you more. Help me to prepare my heart and mind for worship. May I not fall into temptation, or even slip into apathy . Please allow Your Spirit to watch over me and guide me today.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen
