Prayer Starter - Tuesday, June 10, 2025 The Lord is My Strength
Good Morning, Prayer Warrior:
We have been reading in Habakkuk - the entire book is only 3 chapters. Yesterday, we discussed learning to "wait on the Lord" even in times when we are frustrated with God's response time. Today's focus from the prophet is to realize God's plans are still at work even when He uses our enemies to fix an injustice. Remember the things God has done and rejoice in the Lord for He is your strength.
Habakkuk 17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.
God can use flawed nations or people as instruments of judgment without endorsing their actions or motives. In Habakkuk’s time, God used Babylon to judge Judah’s sin, even though Babylon acted from wicked motives and idolatry. Habakkuk was assured that God, the living and holy Lord, will ultimately bring justice and cannot tolerate evil forever.
The righteous live by faith, trusting in God's promises despite appearances. Habakkuk responds with a prayer recalling God’s past deliverance in the exodus, portraying future salvation as a new exodus. This finds ultimate fulfillment in Christ, who brings true deliverance through His death and resurrection. Even amid judgment, God’s redemptive plan remains at work.
Our prayer this morning:
O Lord, we recall all the ways You have saved us from the evils of the world. We thank You for delieverance when Satan lures us away. Forgive us, Lord. May Your Spirit guide us and continue to protect us. May the Holy Spirit help our nation, our communities, and our people to repent and serve You. Continue Your Prayer.
