Prayer Starter - Tuesday, June 3, 2025
Good Tuesday morning to you, my friend. As I wake up early this morning, I am meditating about what God's purpose for me is. Sometimes I think I know what it is and then it appears to me that what I thought His purpose for me is actually only what I wanted it to be. God had to show me what His true purpose for me but only after I got quiet so I can hear Him.
Often times when we get to retirement age or even order, we feel like God no longer has a plan or purpose for us. Eph. 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. The Bible does not say, God has a plan for you only until you are 70. God always has a plan for us.
The 71st Psalm is a beautiful song about aging. (Read the whole chapter at the link).
Even when I am old and gray,
do not forsake me, my God,till I declare your power to the next generation,
your mighty acts to all who are to come. v18.
The whole chapter is a prayer full of God's purpose in our lifes from when we were a teenager (vs5) to a line (v9) asking God to not cast me down due ot my age.
For our prayer this morning, I ask you to pray along with me, the first four verses of Psalm 71:
In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame.
2 In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me;
turn your ear to me and save me.
3 Be my rock of refuge,
to which I can always go;
give the command to save me,
for you are my rock and my fortress.
4 Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked,
from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel.
let me never be put to shame.
2 In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me;
turn your ear to me and save me.
3 Be my rock of refuge,
to which I can always go;
give the command to save me,
for you are my rock and my fortress.
4 Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked,
from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel.
Lord, I continue in private prayer with You. Forgive me for my lack of faith, protect me when I am afraid and continue to watch over my family, both my physical family and my church family. Bless my prayer warriors this week. Help us all continue to grow in our relationship with You. In Jesus Name, we love You, Amen.
