Prayer Starter - Thursday, July 24, 2025 Thanksgiving Thursday

 


Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:18

It's Thanksgiving Thursday.  How are you today?  Many are joyful and all going well. Then it is easy to thank God. But when things are not good in your life and you are feeling lower than low,it is tough. Remember God loves you and is watching over you - even when it doesn't feel like it.  No matter your circumstances, remember the will of God is in Jesus.

I have found over the years that when things are not going so well, I can still take the opportunity to focus on the blessings God has provided me.  Thanksgiving isn't meant to be a single day of the year but a life focused on being greatful. When I regularly practice acknowledging God's presence and thanking Him for His blessings, it tends to take the stress level down.

When we’re willing to come before Him with gratitude and humility, we realize that no matter what we face, God doesn’t just work to change our situations and help us through our problems. He does more. He changes our hearts. 

Do yourself a favor. Start writing down all the things you can give God thanks for.  Be specific. List the people you care about. List the blessings God has blessed you with. Add to your list, salvation, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the church. In fact text back to the number you received this on, or make a comment at the end of this post and name the things you are greatful to our Holy Lord for. The benefit of writing your list down is you can go back and pray it again. It is a faith builder!

Thank You, O gracious Lord,

I just want to give thanks to You for all you have and continue to do for me. Thank you, Lord, for (name your list - I will share a few of mine) my family, my children, grandchildren, my wife. Thank You for the opportunity to work and serve You in my vocation. Thank You for Jesus. Thank You for my church family. Thank You for Your gift of salvation because I am not worthy. 

Holy God, Thank You for all my friends praying every morning with me. Please bless them today. May Your Spirit fill them with grace and mercy.  Bless our prayer warriors with the prayers to pray to You. May Your Spirit guide them all the days of our lives.

Through the power of Jesus. Amen

Prayer Starter - Thursday, June 26, 2025 Pray for a Helicopter

Good Morning, I hope you won't be offended, but I want to share an old joke with you that drives home an important point regarding what the Bible tells us about prayer and trusting in God. A religious man was trapped on the roof of his house during a bad flood. He prayed to God to save him. Before the waters were too high, a neighbor drove by and offered to take him in his truck before the water rose. He declined the offer and said "God will save me."  As the water rose, vehicles could no longer drive by and a Fire & Rescue crew came by in a boat. Again, an offer for rescue and again, the religious man said, he would wait upon the Lord.  Finally the water is destroying the house and it is near the lower levels of the roof. Another rescue attempt this time by helicopter, offers to whisk him away to safely and he declines, relying on God to save him, only to die in the great storm. It's Friday - Game Day.  Friday Night Lights For many of us, Friday night lights bring back memories of gathering with family and friends at the local football field. The lights shining against the night sky signaled more than just a game—it was a place of community, excitement, and hope. In life, we also walk through nights that feel dark. The worries of health, family, or the unknown can weigh heavily. But just as stadium lights brighten the field, the light of Christ shines into our lives. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” ( John 8:12 ). Dear Heavenly Father, many of us are long past the days of Friday night lights; others of us, have a game tonight. Be with us as we are a community - we are family.
