Prayer Starter - Friday, August 1, 2025 - Prayer for Our Schools
Good Morning,
Today is August 1st. For many of us that would have meant, we have another month of summer. However, in 2025, it means we are just days away from school. A few years ago, I was invited to attend a church service on a Thursday evening - not one that I attended normally - and they invited the entire school district's employees. That night they sang a few songs and then prayed for an hour. They specifically prayed for the school board, adminstration, teachers, custodians, bus drivers AND STUDENTS! We were all blessed. Our whole school year was awesome because one church invited the community to pray for the public education system in that community.
2 Timothy 3:14-17 (KJV)
But don’t let it faze you. Stick with what you learned and believed, sure of the integrity of your teachers—why, you took in the sacred Scriptures with your mother’s milk! There’s nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us. (The Message)
Proverbs 1:8 (NASB)
Hear, my son, your father’s instruction,
and reject not your mother’s teaching;
Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
Holy Father,
We lift up our educators to You this morning. We pray for a great beginning for our neighborhood schools. We ask You to bless the students as they return to school this year. We pray You will watch over the teachers and support staff that spend their day caring for the children of our community.
Lord, I ask You to help our Christian community to remember our schools and to support them in regular prayer. Many places have kicked You out of school, but we know, You will have Your Spirit watch over the school children if we only ask. Bless their safety - both physically and mentally. Bless their learning both academically and spiritually.
Continue to pray for your specific thoughts. Remember, you are talking to God. Let Him know what is on Your mind. And, please pray for the children; pray for the teachers and those that support them.
By the power of Jesus.
Amen
