Prayer Starter - Sunday, August 10, 2025 Keep Praying!


Good Morning 

Today we mark  4 months of our prayer starters, I hope they have been a blessing to you as much as me.

Thank you for praying each morning with me. It brings encouragement to me, to see you opening up the blog page and praying together with us. We have some times that as many as 25 of us are praying at the same time. Some of our prayers are shared together over the course of a few days, but the blessing is that we are all praying more and that should mean we are growing closer to Him.

I Thess 5:16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (Read I Thessalonians chapter 5).

Let's pray this morning based on this chapter:

Dear God,
Thank You for loving us and taking care of us. We know that Jesus will come back one day, and it will be a surprise, like a thief in the night. Please help us to be ready and not be caught sleeping or distracted.

We are children of the light and of the day. Help us to live like it. Keep us awake, honest, and full of faith. Let our hearts be full of love, and our minds be full of hope, knowing that You saved us through Jesus. He died for us so we can live with Him forever.

Help us to encourage each other and be kind. Show us how to listen to our leaders and love them for all the work they do. Help us live in peace with everyone. Teach us to warn those who are lazy or causing trouble, to cheer up people who are sad, and to help those who are weak. Please help us to be patient with everyone.

Don't let us pay back wrong for wrong. Instead, help us always do what is good for others.
Remind us to be joyful all the time, to pray often, and to say thank You no matter what happens—because that’s what You want us to do.

Help us to listen to the Holy Spirit. Show us what is good and help us stay away from evil.

God of peace, please make us clean and holy inside and out. Keep our whole selves—our bodies, minds, and hearts—ready for when Jesus comes back. We know You will do this because You always keep Your promises.

Please bless our leaders and all Your people. And may Your grace and kindness always be with us.

Today's Prayer Starter Good morning! As we begin this five day journey of praying specifically to build our relationship with God, let's start with a prayer of adoration. In Psalm 8 , David prays a prayer of adoration.  "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, You have established strength because of yor foes, to still the enemy and the avenger." You can read the entire Psalm, but this morning use David's prayer to help you tell God why you believe His name is majestic in all the earth.  Try it! Prayer Starter - Thursday, June 26, 2025 Pray for a Helicopter

Good Morning, I hope you won't be offended, but I want to share an old joke with you that drives home an important point regarding what the Bible tells us about prayer and trusting in God. A religious man was trapped on the roof of his house during a bad flood. He prayed to God to save him. Before the waters were too high, a neighbor drove by and offered to take him in his truck before the water rose. He declined the offer and said "God will save me."  As the water rose, vehicles could no longer drive by and a Fire & Rescue crew came by in a boat. Again, an offer for rescue and again, the religious man said, he would wait upon the Lord.  Finally the water is destroying the house and it is near the lower levels of the roof. Another rescue attempt this time by helicopter, offers to whisk him away to safely and he declines, relying on God to save him, only to die in the great storm. Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV) "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." As we grow older, life often brings unexpected challenges—health concerns, changes in relationships, and the reality of life's brevity. But in all the seasons of life, one thing remains constant: God's faithfulness. In the book of Lamentations, Jermiah the.prophet, reflects on a time of great sorrow and hardship.
