Prayer Starter - Tuesday, August 5, 2025 Pray Like Daniel


Good Morning.

Daniel 2 discusses in more details the king's frustration with the wise men who could not interpret his dreams. He threatens to kill them all and Daniel and his friends prayed and were able to interpret the dream. Today, I will focus on Daniel's prayer to God for giving him sucess (Daniel 2:20 -23).

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
    wisdom and power are his.
21 He changes times and seasons;
    he deposes kings and raises up others.
He gives wisdom to the wise
    and knowledge to the discerning.
22 He reveals deep and hidden things;
    he knows what lies in darkness,
    and light dwells with him.
23 I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors:
    You have given me wisdom and power,
you have made known to me what we asked of you,
    you have made known to us the dream of the king.”

After the dream was explained,  (2:47)  The king said to Daniel, “Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.”

Our focus to be a prayer warrior is to know God and to be able to praise His name in all situations. To pray like Daniel, we need to get to know God through scriptures, prayer and mediatation. This morning,  let's attempt to pray Daniel's prayer in our own words. I hope you can pray it today. If not, then pray for the faith so you may soon.  (Also note the power found in praising God and thanking Him for all He does for us- including our successes and failures).

Holy Father, 

We thank You for being our Lord and caring for us. 

Praise be to Your name. You are God for ever and ever;
    wisdom and power are Yours.
21 You change times and seasons;

You give wisdom to the wise
    and knowledge to the discerning.
22 You reveal deep and hidden things;
    You know what lies in darkness,
    and light dwells with him.
23 I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors:
    You have given me wisdom and power,

   You have made known to us the service You wish of us.”

Today's Prayer Starter Good morning! As we begin this five day journey of praying specifically to build our relationship with God, let's start with a prayer of adoration. In Psalm 8 , David prays a prayer of adoration.  "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, You have established strength because of yor foes, to still the enemy and the avenger." Prayer Starter - Thursday, June 26, 2025 Pray for a Helicopter

Good Morning, I hope you won't be offended, but I want to share an old joke with you that drives home an important point regarding what the Bible tells us about prayer and trusting in God. A religious man was trapped on the roof of his house during a bad flood. He prayed to God to save him. Before the waters were too high, a neighbor drove by and offered to take him in his truck before the water rose. He declined the offer and said "God will save me."  As the water rose, vehicles could no longer drive by and a Fire & Rescue crew came by in a boat. Again, an offer for rescue and again, the religious man said, he would wait upon the Lord.  Finally the water is destroying the house and it is near the lower levels of the roof. Another rescue attempt this time by helicopter, offers to whisk him away to safely and he declines, relying on God to save him, only to die in the great storm. Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV) "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." As we grow older, life often brings unexpected challenges—health concerns, changes in relationships, and the reality of life's brevity. But in all the seasons of life, one thing remains constant: God's faithfulness. In the book of Lamentations, Jermiah the.prophet, reflects on a time of great sorrow and hardship.
