Prayer Starter- Monday, September 15, 2025 Praying for Others

 I Samuel 12:20 Do not be afraid,” Samuel replied. “You have done all this evil; yet do not turn away from the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. 21 Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless. 22 For the sake of his great name the Lord will not reject his people, because the Lord was pleased to make you his own. 23 As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right. 24 But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.

Samuel was asked to pray for the God's people - even after they sinned against God.  They were afraid Samuel wouldn't pray for them.  Yet in verse 23 he made a powerful statement that should motivate us all to pray regularly and often.  And especially for others.  He said if he forgot to pray it would be a sin. 

Oh should we be about praying for others. Of course!  Make a list of people, organizations, or happenings you want to pray for and let's pray this week.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for reminding me through Your Word that it is a holy calling to pray for others. Just as Samuel declared that he would not sin by failing to pray for Your people, help me to carry others faithfully to Your throne of grace.

I lift up my family, friends, neighbors, and even those I find difficult to love. Guide them, protect them, and draw them closer to You. Where they feel weak, give them strength. Where they feel lost, shine Your light. Where they feel broken, bring Your healing and peace.

Lord, keep my heart soft and attentive so that I never grow weary of interceding. Help me to see prayer not as a duty, but as a privilege and a way to join You in Your work in their lives. May my prayers be a source of blessing and encouragement to those I love.

In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.

Today's Prayer Starter Good morning! As we begin this five day journey of praying specifically to build our relationship with God, let's start with a prayer of adoration. In Psalm 8 , David prays a prayer of adoration.  "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, You have established strength because of yor foes, to still the enemy and the avenger." Prayer Starter - Thursday, June 26, 2025 Pray for a Helicopter

Good Morning, I hope you won't be offended, but I want to share an old joke with you that drives home an important point regarding what the Bible tells us about prayer and trusting in God. A religious man was trapped on the roof of his house during a bad flood. He prayed to God to save him. Before the waters were too high, a neighbor drove by and offered to take him in his truck before the water rose. He declined the offer and said "God will save me."  As the water rose, vehicles could no longer drive by and a Fire & Rescue crew came by in a boat. Again, an offer for rescue and again, the religious man said, he would wait upon the Lord.  Finally the water is destroying the house and it is near the lower levels of the roof. Another rescue attempt this time by helicopter, offers to whisk him away to safely and he declines, relying on God to save him, only to die in the great storm. Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV) "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." As we grow older, life often brings unexpected challenges—health concerns, changes in relationships, and the reality of life's brevity.
