Prayer Starter - Saturday, September 13, 2025 "Just a little Talk with Jesus"



We all want to be be people that have a relationship with God.  That is one of the reasons we started "Prayer Starters," so we could be gently encouraged (reminded) to start our day (or finish - or both) with a conversation with our Maker.

"Pray without ceasing." – 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Prayer is not meant to be a once-a-day ritual or a formal duty—it’s meant to be a conversation with the One who loves us most. Just as we talk to our closest friends throughout the day, God invites us to speak with Him about everything: our joys, our struggles, our hopes, and even our fears.

When we pause to talk to God, we are reminded that we’re not walking through life alone. Every small conversation with Him draws us closer to His heart. Prayer doesn’t have to be formal—sometimes it’s as simple as saying, “Lord, I need You,” or “Thank You, Jesus.”

Make time to speak with God as you go about your day. Invite Your Lord,  into your moments, big and small, and let your heart grow more attuned to His voice.

Lord, thank You that I can talk to You anytime, anywhere. Help me remember to pause and share my heart with You throughout my day. Teach me to listen as well as speak, so that I can walk closely with You.

 Today, I need You to walk with me as __________________________.(Fill in what fits your life).

Today, Lord, I need You to guard my mouth when I _____________________(Fill in what fits your life).

Heavenly Father, Forgive me when I fail You. Forgive me when I shy away from You. Help me to grow my faith so I will always speak up for You.

Today's Prayer Starter Good morning! As we begin this five day journey of praying specifically to build our relationship with God, let's start with a prayer of adoration. In Psalm 8 , David prays a prayer of adoration.  "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, You have established strength because of yor foes, to still the enemy and the avenger." You can read the entire Psalm, but this morning use David's prayer to help you tell God why you believe His name is majestic in all the earth.  Try it! Still need some help.  Here is my morning adoration prayer to God: O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!  You have given me a good night's rest, good health, and a desire to spread the love of Jesus today.  Walk with me O Lord and let your light shine from me today!

Prayer Starter - Thursday, June 26, 2025 Pray for a Helicopter

Good Morning, I hope you won't be offended, but I want to share an old joke with you that drives home an important point regarding what the Bible tells us about prayer and trusting in God. A religious man was trapped on the roof of his house during a bad flood. He prayed to God to save him. Before the waters were too high, a neighbor drove by and offered to take him in his truck before the water rose. He declined the offer and said "God will save me."  As the water rose, vehicles could no longer drive by and a Fire & Rescue crew came by in a boat. Again, an offer for rescue and again, the religious man said, he would wait upon the Lord.  Finally the water is destroying the house and it is near the lower levels of the roof. Another rescue attempt this time by helicopter, offers to whisk him away to safely and he declines, relying on God to save him, only to die in the great storm. Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV) "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." As we grow older, life often brings unexpected challenges—health concerns, changes in relationships, and the reality of life's brevity. But in all the seasons of life, one thing remains constant: God's faithfulness. In the book of Lamentations, Jermiah the.prophet, reflects on a time of great sorrow and hardship. Yet, he still finds reason to hope. Why? Because God’s faithfulness is unwavering. Even when circumstances seem difficult or uncertain, God’s love and compassion never fail.
