Prayer Starter - Monday, October 13, 2025

Good Morning Friend,

As we wake up today, let's reflect on this passage found in Ezekiel 8.  I was reading about Ezekiel and how God was working on the prophet, helping him see the problems with the people and their sins.  God was guiding Ezekiel to dig and learn. This morning, let's pray and ask God to help us  learn as we dig into His word.

Heavenly Father,

We come to You with thankful hearts, knowing that You are wise and powerful. In Your Word, You spoke to Ezekiel and gave him a lesson that still teaches us today. You said, “Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.” (Ezekiel 8:8, KJV) We thank You, Lord, for giving us a way to come close to You and learn more about ourselves.

Just like Ezekiel dug into the wall and found a door, help us to look deep inside our own hearts. Give us courage to face the walls we’ve built—walls that keep us from being honest with You and with others. Sometimes we’re afraid of what we might find, but we know that You want to help us see the truth and heal what’s broken.

Please take away our fear and doubt, and fill us with trust in Your love. As we search our hearts, give us strength to deal with the things that hold us back—our worries, anger, or hurt feelings. Let Your Spirit guide us as we dig deeper into our thoughts and emotions, shining light on the places that need Your healing.

Father, help us be real with You and with ourselves. The world often values looks and success more than truth, but You value honesty and open hearts. Teach us to be brave enough to face what’s inside us and to let You heal and renew us. Just like Ezekiel found a door behind the wall, may we also find new hope, peace, and purpose when we open our hearts to You. In the name of Jesus,

Amen.

Today's Prayer Starter Good morning! As we begin this five day journey of praying specifically to build our relationship with God, let's start with a prayer of adoration. In Psalm 8 , David prays a prayer of adoration.  "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, You have established strength because of yor foes, to still the enemy and the avenger." You can read the entire Psalm, but this morning use David's prayer to help you tell God why you believe His name is majestic in all the earth.  Try it! Still need some help.  Here is my morning adoration prayer to God: O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!  You have given me a good night's rest, good health, and a desire to spread the love of Jesus today.  Walk with me O Lord and let your light shine from me today!

Prayer Starter - Thursday, June 26, 2025 Pray for a Helicopter

Good Morning, I hope you won't be offended, but I want to share an old joke with you that drives home an important point regarding what the Bible tells us about prayer and trusting in God. A religious man was trapped on the roof of his house during a bad flood. He prayed to God to save him. Before the waters were too high, a neighbor drove by and offered to take him in his truck before the water rose. He declined the offer and said "God will save me."  As the water rose, vehicles could no longer drive by and a Fire & Rescue crew came by in a boat. Again, an offer for rescue and again, the religious man said, he would wait upon the Lord.  Finally the water is destroying the house and it is near the lower levels of the roof. Another rescue attempt this time by helicopter, offers to whisk him away to safely and he declines, relying on God to save him, only to die in the great storm. Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV) "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." As we grow older, life often brings unexpected challenges—health concerns, changes in relationships, and the reality of life's brevity.
