Prayer Starter - Wednesday, November 12, 2025 Thanksgiving Prayers of David

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.” — Psalm 18:2

When David looked back over his life, he saw how many times God had protected him. From facing lions and giants to fleeing from King Saul, David had been through many dangers. But through every battle, God was faithful.

In 2 Samuel 22 (and Psalm 18), David sings a song of thanksgiving after God delivered him from all his enemies. He doesn’t take credit for his strength or victories—he gives all glory to God. David calls the Lord his rock, fortress, and deliverer. These words remind us that God is strong, safe, and dependable no matter what we face.

Later, in 1 Chronicles 29:10–13, when David is blessing the Lord before the people, he again gives thanks. Even though he won’t be the one to build the Temple, he praises God for letting him be part of the plan. David’s heart overflows with gratitude—he thanks God not only for what He has done, but for who He is: “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory.”

David teaches us that true thanksgiving isn’t just for when things go well. It’s about recognizing God’s hand in every part of life—the victories, the struggles, and the moments in between.

Lord, You are my rock and my fortress. Thank You for protecting me and guiding me through every challenge. Help me to remember, like David, to give You praise in all things—not just for what You do, but for who You are.

CONTINUE YOUR THOUGHTS AND ENJOY TALKING WITH OUR GOD

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
