Prayer Starter - Wednesday, November 5, 2025 "Thankful in All Circumstances"


 “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18  (ESV)

True thankfulness isn’t based on how good life feels, but on how faithful God is. Gratitude in hard times becomes a declaration of trust — it says, “God, I still believe You are good.” Even when circumstances shift, His love, presence, and promises never do. 

I once heard a sermon where the preacher told a story about a man who was struggling and had bad things happening to him - yet after each negative event, the man prayed to God and explained he was confused, maybe disappointed, but no matter what, he Thanked God for being with him - even in times that went against the man's wishes.

Thanksgiving, then, is not an emotion but an act of faith.


Lord, teach me to give thanks not only when life is easy but also when it’s hard. Let my gratitude become an anchor that keeps me steady in every season. 

This morning I want to praise You, O, Lord, for being my God. I praise You for watching over me, blessing me and guiding me - even when it doesn't make sense to me. I will praise Your Name and give thanks to You in all cricumstances because this is Your will for me.

Because of Jesus, Amen.

Today's Prayer Starter Good morning! As we begin this five day journey of praying specifically to build our relationship with God, let's start with a prayer of adoration. In Psalm 8 , David prays a prayer of adoration.  "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, You have established strength because of yor foes, to still the enemy and the avenger." You can read the entire Psalm, but this morning use David's prayer to help you tell God why you believe His name is majestic in all the earth.  Try it! Prayer Starter - Thursday, June 26, 2025 Pray for a Helicopter

Good Morning, I hope you won't be offended, but I want to share an old joke with you that drives home an important point regarding what the Bible tells us about prayer and trusting in God. A religious man was trapped on the roof of his house during a bad flood. He prayed to God to save him. Before the waters were too high, a neighbor drove by and offered to take him in his truck before the water rose. He declined the offer and said "God will save me."  As the water rose, vehicles could no longer drive by and a Fire & Rescue crew came by in a boat. Again, an offer for rescue and again, the religious man said, he would wait upon the Lord.  Finally the water is destroying the house and it is near the lower levels of the roof. Another rescue attempt this time by helicopter, offers to whisk him away to safely and he declines, relying on God to save him, only to die in the great storm. Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV) "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." As we grow older, life often brings unexpected challenges—health concerns, changes in relationships, and the reality of life's brevity. But in all the seasons of life, one thing remains constant: God's faithfulness. In the book of Lamentations, Jermiah the.prophet, reflects on a time of great sorrow and hardship.
