Prayer Starter - Monday, December 8, 2025 The Gift of Wisdom

 


James 1:5  If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.


God delights in giving wisdom to all who ask Him. His wisdom guides our decisions, helps us discern truth, and leads us down paths of righteousness. When we seek His direction, He provides a clarity no earthly knowledge can offer — a clarity that steadies our hearts and lights our way.

Wisdom is more than simply knowing the right thing to do; it is learning how to follow God faithfully in every circumstance. For a long time, I believed wisdom came primarily from experience. And while experience can teach valuable lessons, it is God who helps us understand and apply those lessons in ways that shape us spiritually. Without Him, experience alone cannot produce the kind of wisdom our souls truly need.

Among the many gifts God gives us, wisdom is one of the most precious. Today, let’s thank Him for this gift. Let’s ask for it with open hearts, receive it with humility, and commit ourselves to following the wisdom that comes from Him alone.


Lord, thank You for freely giving wisdom to all who seek You. Open my heart to hear Your guidance and quiet my mind so I can recognize Your truth above all else. Teach me to walk in Your ways, to discern what is right, and to apply Your wisdom in every decision I make. Help me rely not on my own understanding, but on Your perfect insight. Today, I receive the gift of wisdom with gratitude. Lead me, Lord, and I will follow. In Jesus' Name; Amen.

Today's Prayer Starter Good morning! As we begin this five day journey of praying specifically to build our relationship with God, let's start with a prayer of adoration. In Psalm 8 , David prays a prayer of adoration.  "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, You have established strength because of yor foes, to still the enemy and the avenger." You can read the entire Psalm, but this morning use David's prayer to help you tell God why you believe His name is majestic in all the earth.  Try it! Prayer Starter - Thursday, June 26, 2025 Pray for a Helicopter

Good Morning, I hope you won't be offended, but I want to share an old joke with you that drives home an important point regarding what the Bible tells us about prayer and trusting in God. A religious man was trapped on the roof of his house during a bad flood. He prayed to God to save him. Before the waters were too high, a neighbor drove by and offered to take him in his truck before the water rose. He declined the offer and said "God will save me."  As the water rose, vehicles could no longer drive by and a Fire & Rescue crew came by in a boat. Again, an offer for rescue and again, the religious man said, he would wait upon the Lord.  Finally the water is destroying the house and it is near the lower levels of the roof. Another rescue attempt this time by helicopter, offers to whisk him away to safely and he declines, relying on God to save him, only to die in the great storm. Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV) "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." As we grow older, life often brings unexpected challenges—health concerns, changes in relationships, and the reality of life's brevity. But in all the seasons of life, one thing remains constant: God's faithfulness. In the book of Lamentations, Jermiah the.prophet, reflects on a time of great sorrow and hardship.
