Prayer Starter - Friday, January 16, 2026 Knowing Jesus

 


“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” — John 17:3

Many people know the stories of Christ, but knowing Jesus means allowing those stories to shape how we live, love, and respond to the world around us.  Jesus invites us into a living relationship, not a distant belief. He calls us friends (John 15:15) and promises to remain with us in every season of life. When we seek Him in prayer, Scripture, and quiet moments of reflection, we begin to recognize His presence in both our joys and our struggles.

Knowing Jesus transforms our hearts. His grace teaches us humility.  His mercy leads us to forgiveness.  His love compels us to love others well.  Each day becomes an opportunity to grow closer, to trust more deeply, and to reflect His light in a world that needs hope.

Lord Jesus, help me move beyond simply knowing about You and into truly knowing You. Draw me closer to Your heart today. Teach me to walk in Your love, listen to Your voice, and reflect Your grace in all I do. 

Continue your prayer. Build your relationship with God and get to know His Son.

Today's Prayer Starter Good morning! As we begin this five day journey of praying specifically to build our relationship with God, let's start with a prayer of adoration. In Psalm 8 , David prays a prayer of adoration.  "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. Merry Christmas.  Good morning, friend: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us ). — Matthew 1:23 From the very beginning, God’s desire has been to dwell with His people. The promise of Emmanuel - God with us  — is the fulfillment of that longing. In Jesus Christ, God did not remain distant or unreachable. He stepped into our world, our struggles, and our suffering. Emmanuel reminds us that God is present in every season of life. When we feel alone, He is with us. When we walk through uncertainty, He walks beside us. Jesus experienced human weakness, sorrow, and temptation, yet without sin, so that we could know God not just as Creator, but as Companion and Savior. Assurance is God’s gift of steady confidence in His promises. In a world filled with uncertainty, God offers His children the peace of knowing that our salvation, hope, and future rest securely in Him—not in our own strength or performance. “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” — 1 John 5:13 God’s assurance reminds us that we belong to Him. When doubts arise or fears whisper that we are not enough, His Word speaks truth: we are held by His grace. Our confidence is not rooted in how tightly we hold onto God, but in how firmly He holds onto us. Through assurance, God calms anxious hearts and strengthens our faith.
