Prayer Starter - Friday, January 9, 2026 - Draw Closer to Him
Good Friday morning, friend -
I hope and pray you have had a good week, and that today is even better. However, from time to time, many of us - even the most outgoing or well-connected - can find ourselves facing the giant of loneliness. A person may have many friends and still feel alone.
Loneliness can feel heavy, as if the world is moving forward while you stand still. One can feel unseen and unheard. Even when surrounded by people, the heart can ache for true connection, understanding, and companionship. Scripture reminds us that God sees us in these moments. He is not distant from our pain, nor unaware of our quiet tears.
God promises, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). When human relationships fall short, God remains constant. He draws near to the lonely, offering comfort, peace, and the assurance that we matter deeply to Him.
Loneliness does not mean you are forgotten. Often, it is an invitation to draw closer to God - to allow Him to fill the empty places with His presence and remind you that you are loved, valued, and never truly alone. I pray you don't suffer from negative feeling, but if you do, please remember God will not leave you. Reach out and pray to Him now.
Gracious God,
When I feel lonely or unseen, remind me that You are near. Help me trust Your promise that You will never leave me or forsake me. Fill the empty places in my heart with Your peace, comfort, and presence. Guide me toward meaningful connections. Help me feel like I am loved, valued, and never alone in You.
And for those who are feeling connected, let's pray this prayer:
Dear God, help me to be the meaningful connection for someone who is experiencing loneliness. Help me to be the hands of Jesus and give someone else some time. May Your Spirit guide me to the person (people) that need Your love.
