Prayer Starter - Monday, January 19, 2026 Following Jesus


When Jesus said, “Come, follow me” (Matthew 4:19), He wasn’t only inviting people to walk beside, He was calling them to trust Him with their lives. Following Jesus means choosing His way when the path is uncertain.

Each day brings small decisions that shape our walk with Christ. In prayer, in kindness, and in obedience, we learn to recognize His voice and respond with faith. Jesus does not promise an easy road, but He promises His presence every step of the journey.

As we follow Him, we discover that true life is found not in leading our own way, but in walking closely with the One who leads us home.


Holy Father in Heaven - As I spend more time learning to trust and lean on You, help me to watch Jesus. May I learn from the Gospels more about Your Son. May I learn to love like Him. May I learn to trust You as He did. May I learn to walk in His footsteps.

Dear God, forgive me for my sins. May my decision making be driven by Your Son Jesus. Watch over me and guide me in the path that Jesus took.  Thank You for saving me by Your grace.

Today's Prayer Starter Good morning! As we begin this five day journey of praying specifically to build our relationship with God, let's start with a prayer of adoration. In Psalm 8 , David prays a prayer of adoration.  "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, You have established strength because of yor foes, to still the enemy and the avenger." Merry Christmas.  Good morning, friend: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us ). — Matthew 1:23 From the very beginning, God’s desire has been to dwell with His people. The promise of Emmanuel - God with us  — is the fulfillment of that longing. In Jesus Christ, God did not remain distant or unreachable. He stepped into our world, our struggles, and our suffering. Emmanuel reminds us that God is present in every season of life. When we feel alone, He is with us. When we walk through uncertainty, He walks beside us. Jesus experienced human weakness, sorrow, and temptation, yet without sin, so that we could know God not just as Creator, but as Companion and Savior. Assurance is God’s gift of steady confidence in His promises. In a world filled with uncertainty, God offers His children the peace of knowing that our salvation, hope, and future rest securely in Him—not in our own strength or performance. “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” — 1 John 5:13 God’s assurance reminds us that we belong to Him. When doubts arise or fears whisper that we are not enough, His Word speaks truth: we are held by His grace. Our confidence is not rooted in how tightly we hold onto God, but in how firmly He holds onto us. Through assurance, God calms anxious hearts and strengthens our faith.
