Prayer Starter - Saturday, January 10, 2026 - "Come, follow me."

 


“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” — Luke 9:23

Jesus’ invitation is simple, yet life-changing: “Come, follow me” (Matthew 4:19). He did not offer a detailed roadmap or promise an easy path. Instead, He offered Himself.  To follow Jesus is to trust His lead, even when the way ahead is unfamiliar.

Following Christ means leaving behind what once defined us and allowing Him to shape who we are becoming. It is not about us. The disciples left their nets immediately - not because they understood everything, but because they were drawn to the One who called them. 

Jesus still calls us today, inviting us to walk with Him daily.  Jesus wants us to learn from Him, Jesus wants His love to be reflected in our lives.

In 2026, let's make our prayer goal to get to know Jesus better. Learn to follow Him. Learn to be like Him.

Here is a short prayer starter... please just start praying these words in red and then spend more time continuing your prayer so God and you can get to know each other better.  

Jesus, help me hear Your voice clearly and give me the courage to follow You wherever You lead.  

I pray through You authority; Amen.

Matthew 16:24–25

John 10:27–28

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.”

Philippians 3:13–14

“Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Today's Prayer Starter Good morning! As we begin this five day journey of praying specifically to build our relationship with God, let's start with a prayer of adoration. In Psalm 8 , David prays a prayer of adoration.  "O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. Merry Christmas.  Good morning, friend: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us ). — Matthew 1:23 From the very beginning, God’s desire has been to dwell with His people. The promise of Emmanuel - God with us  — is the fulfillment of that longing. In Jesus Christ, God did not remain distant or unreachable. He stepped into our world, our struggles, and our suffering. Assurance is God’s gift of steady confidence in His promises. In a world filled with uncertainty, God offers His children the peace of knowing that our salvation, hope, and future rest securely in Him—not in our own strength or performance. “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” — 1 John 5:13 God’s assurance reminds us that we belong to Him. When doubts arise or fears whisper that we are not enough, His Word speaks truth: we are held by His grace. Our confidence is not rooted in how tightly we hold onto God, but in how firmly He holds onto us. Through assurance, God calms anxious hearts and strengthens our faith.
