Prayer Starter - Friday, February 6, 2026 Psalm 12

1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;

    those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.

2 Everyone lies to their neighbor;
  they flatter with their lips
  but harbor deception in their hearts.

3 May the Lord silence all flattering lips
  and every boastful tongue—

4 those who say,
  “By our tongues we will prevail;
  our own lips will defend us—
  who is lord over us?”

5 “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,
  I will now arise,” says the Lord.
  “I will protect them from those who malign them.”

6 And the words of the Lord are flawless,
  like silver purified in a crucible,
  like gold refined seven times.

7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe
  and will protect us forever from the wicked,

8 who freely strut about
  when what is vile is honored by the human race.

Psalm 12 speaks honestly about a world where truth feels scarce and words are often used to deceive or harm. David looks around and sees people boasting, manipulating, and speaking falsely. Yet in the middle of this broken environment, he clings to one unchanging reality: God’s words are pure. While human speech may fail, the Lord’s promises remain trustworthy and secure.

This psalm reminds us that when voices around us are confusing, critical, or dishonest, we can turn to the voice of God. He hears the cries of the needy and promises to rise up for those who feel oppressed or discouraged. In a culture that shifts constantly, God’s Word stands firm. His truth protects, guides, and gives hope.

Today, choose to let God’s voice shape your heart more than the noise around you.

His promises are steady, and His care for you is sure.

Faithful Lord,
In a world where words can wound and truth can feel hard to find, help me trust in Your pure and faithful Word. Guard my heart from discouragement when I see dishonesty around me. Remind me that You hear the cries of Your people and that You stand up for those who feel weary and overlooked.

Purify my own words, Lord. Let my speech be kind, truthful, and honoring to You. Help me listen more closely to Your voice than to the noise of this world. Keep me steady in Your promises and confident in Your protection.

Thank You for being a God whose words never fail.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
