Prayer Starter - Saturday, February 14, 2026 A Valentines Psalm
Forgive me, but I am a theme guy. Let's jump to Psalms 136 today because it is Valentine's Day. We'll go back to Psalm 31 Sunday.
Psalm 136 — “His love endures forever.”
As the years pass, our understanding of love deepens. What once felt like excitement and emotion grows into something steadier—commitment, patience, forgiveness, and faithfulness. Psalm 136 speaks into that mature understanding of love with a simple, repeated truth: “His love endures forever.”
Life teaches us that human love can be tender and meaningful, yet it is not always constant. People change, circumstances shift, and time brings both joy and loss. But the psalmist points us to a love that does not age or weaken. God’s love has carried us through seasons of strength and seasons of struggle. It has been present in celebrations, in quiet homes, in hospital rooms, and in moments of prayer when words were few.
For those who have walked many miles with the Lord, this psalm reads almost like a life review. We can look back and see how God provided, guided, corrected, forgave, and sustained us. His love did not end when we failed. It did not diminish when we grew weary. It has remained constant through every chapter.
Valentine’s Day can be a sweet reminder of cherished relationships, memories, and companionship. Yet it can also stir reflection on loved ones far away or those now in heaven. In every case, God’s enduring love remains the foundation beneath our lives. He is the One who has loved us first, loved us longest, and will love us always.
Today is a good day to pause and give thanks -- not only for the love we share with others, but for the faithful love that has carried us this far. And it is also a good day to extend that same patient, enduring love to those around us.
Faithful God, thank You for walking with me through every season of life. Your love has sustained me in ways I did not always recognize at the time. Help me to rest in Your enduring care and to show patient, steady love to those You have placed in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Psalm 136:1-5

His love endures forever.
2 Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.

His love endures forever.
