Prayer Starter - Sunday, February 1, 2026 Psalm 7 God's Justice and Refuge

 


O Lord my God, in you do I take refuge;
    save me from all my pursuers and deliver me,
 lest like a lion they tear my soul apart,
    rending it in pieces, with none to deliver. v 1-2

Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end,
    and may you establish the righteous—
you who test the minds and hearts,[c]
    O righteous God!
 My shield is with God,
    who saves the upright in heart.
 God is a righteous judge,
    and a God who feels indignation every day. v 9 - 11

I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness,
    and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High. vs 17


Psalm 7 reminds us that God is our defender when we are misunderstood, accused, or surrounded by trouble. David cries out to the Lord as his refuge, trusting God to see the truth of his heart and to act with perfect justice. This psalm teaches us that we do not have to fight every battle on our own. God sees what others may not, and He stands as our righteous judge.

When we place our trust in Him, we can rest in the assurance that God protects the faithful and brings light into situations that feel dark and unfair. Our role is not revenge, but righteousness. We are to walk in integrity and leave the outcome in God’s hands.


Righteous God, You see my heart and my circumstances clearly. Be my refuge today. Help me walk in integrity and trust You with every challenge I face. 

I have a friend who has some tough decisions to make.  It may hurt feelings. Her decisions may upset others but for her safety she has some challenging decisions to make.  Please guide her and support her in her decision making.  Give her peace and comfort.  Heal her physical pains.  Heal her emotional pains.  Give her Your Spirit to guide her and protect her. Be her refuge as only You can, Lord.

Assurance is God’s gift of steady confidence in His promises. Merry Christmas.  Good morning, friend: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us ). — Matthew 1:23 From the very beginning, God’s desire has been to dwell with His people. The promise of Emmanuel - God with us  — is the fulfillment of that longing. In Jesus Christ, God did not remain distant or unreachable. He stepped into our world, our struggles, and our suffering. Emmanuel reminds us that God is present in every season of life. When we feel alone, He is with us. When we walk through uncertainty, He walks beside us.
