Prayer Starter - Thursday, March 12, 2026 Restore Us, Lord, Psalm 79-80
Restore us, O God;
let your face shine, that we may be saved!
4 O Lord God of hosts,
how long will you be angry with our prayers?
Please, O God, do not turn Your face from us, but grant us forgiveness.
Oh, Lord, help our nation remember You. Help our leaders turn their ears to hear You, Oh Lord.
Bless our country and help us be a Christian nation, focused on serving You.
Continue to pray your morning prayer.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer. Because of Jesus, I pray all of these things. Amen
Psalms 79 and 80 are prayers spoken during a time when the nation of Israel was hurting. The people saw their land in trouble and their future uncertain, so they cried out to God for help. They didn’t pretend everything was fine. Instead, they honestly asked God to forgive them, guide them, and restore their nation.
Many people today can understand that kind of prayer. When we look at our country, we sometimes see division, worry, and struggles that seem bigger than we can fix. These psalms remind us that when a nation feels broken or discouraged, one of the most important things people can do is turn back to God.
Psalm 80 repeats a simple request: “Restore us, Lord… that we may be saved.” It is a humble prayer asking God to bring healing and renewal. The psalmist believed that when people seek God again, hope and restoration can follow.
These psalms encourage us to pray not only for our own lives but also for our communities and our country. God cares about nations, and He listens when people ask Him for wisdom, mercy, and renewal.
Even in difficult times, prayer can become the first step toward healing. (You can pray this scripture without any changes).
Restore us, O God;
let your face shine, that we may be saved!
4 O Lord God of hosts,
how long will you be angry with your people's prayers?
5 You have fed them with the bread of tears
and given them tears to drink in full measure.
6 You make us an object of contention for our neighbors,
and our enemies laugh among themselves.
7 Restore us, O God of hosts;
let your face shine, that we may be saved!
