Thursday, March 26, 2026 Psalm 103: Remembering God’s Goodness

Psalm 103 is a beautiful reminder to not forget how good God has been to us. David begins by speaking to his own soul: “Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name” (Psalm 103:1). Sometimes we have to intentionally pause and remind ourselves to praise—especially when life feels heavy.

This psalm walks us through the many gifts God gives:

  • He forgives our sins
  • He heals our brokenness
  • He redeems our lives
  • He crowns us with love and compassion

For someone walking through grief, Psalm 103 offers a gentle truth: even when loss is real and painful, God’s love has not changed. His compassion is described as that of a father toward his children - tender, patient, and understanding (v.13). He knows our weakness. He remembers our pain.

Verse 2 says, “Forget not all his benefits.” In seasons of sorrow, it can be easy to focus only on what we’ve lost. But this psalm invites us to also remember what remains - God’s steady presence, His mercy, and His unfailing love.

We may not have all the answers, but we still have a faithful God.

Lord, help me remember Your goodness, even in difficult seasons. Thank You for Your forgiveness, Your compassion, and Your steady love.

Continue your personal prayer.

When my heart is heavy, remind me that You are near and that Your mercy never fails. Because of your Son, I pray. Amen.

Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins
    and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Lord, Lead me to one soul today.
