Monday, April 13, 2026 Psalms 123 to 125. EYES OF TRUST

Psalms 123–125

Psalms 123–125 continue the Songs of Ascents, guiding us deeper into a life of humble dependence and unwavering trust in God. Together, these psalms remind us that when we fix our eyes on the Lord, we discover mercy, stability, and lasting peace.

Psalm 123 paints a beautiful picture of humility. Like servants looking to their master, the psalmist lifts his eyes to God, seeking mercy amid scorn and opposition. It teaches us to turn our gaze upward, trusting that God sees our struggles and responds with compassion.

I lift up my eyes to you,

to you who sit enthroned in heaven.

2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master,

as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress,

so our eyes look to the Lord our God,

till he shows us his mercy.

3 Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us,

for we have endured no end of contempt.

4 We have endured no end

    of ridicule from the arrogant,

    of contempt from the proud.

Psalm 124 celebrates God’s powerful protection. The psalm reflects on what could have happened if the Lord had not been on Israel’s side. Instead of defeat, there is deliverance. It encourages us to recognize God’s hand in our own lives, acknowledging that our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 125 offers assurance to those who trust in God. Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people with enduring security. While challenges may arise, those who place their confidence in Him remain unshaken and are granted the blessing of peace.

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people
both now and forevermore. Psalm 125:1-2

When our eyes are fixed on the Lord, we experience His protection and rest in His peace.

Heavenly Father,

I lift my eyes to You, trusting in Your mercy and care. Thank You for the times You have protected and delivered me. Surround me with Your presence and help me remain steadfast in my faith.

Continue your prayer

Fill my heart with Your peace and guide me to walk in Your ways each day.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
