Sunday, May 3, 2026 Proverbs 7 A Prayer to Not Drift Away


Proverbs 7 is our Bible Reading for the Day. Take a moment to read this deeply personal warning.

It is easy to drift when we’re not paying attention. The story isn’t just about one person making a bad choice; it’s about how small compromises can slowly lead us away from what we know is right.

My son, keep my words
    and store up my commands within you.
2 
Keep my commands and you will live;
    guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.
3 
Bind them on your fingers;
    write them on the tablet of your heart.  Prov. 7:1-3

What stands out is this: the person didn’t plan to fall; rather, they simply wandered too close to temptation. That’s often how it happens. We don’t wake up intending to go the wrong way, but we drift there when we stop guarding our hearts and minds.

God’s wisdom isn’t just something to learn about and file away. God's wisdom is something for us to cherish. It is something we should draw close to.  When His truth is written on our hearts and guiding our steps, it helps us recognize danger early and choose a better path.

Staying close to God is the safest place to be.

Holy Father;

Help me to stay close to You in every part of my life. Keep Your truth fresh in my heart and clear in my mind. When I’m tempted to drift or take small steps in the wrong direction, give me awareness and strength to turn back.

Guard my heart from anything that would pull me away from You. Help me to value Your wisdom more than momentary desires. May Your Holy Spirit guide me. May my spirit listen.

Lead my steps, protect my path, and keep me grounded in what is right.

In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, I pray to You, O' God. Amen.

Merry Christmas.  Good morning, friend: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us ). — Matthew 1:23 From the very beginning, God’s desire has been to dwell with His people.
