Tuesday, May 4, 2026 Proverbs 9 - One More Prayer - Wisdom or Folly

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11
For through wisdom your days will be many,
and years will be added to your life.   (verses 10-11)

Folly is an unruly woman;
she is simple and knows nothing.
14
She sits at the door of her house,
on a seat at the highest point of the city,
15
calling out to those who pass by,
who go straight on their way,  (verses 13-15)

Complete Proverb 9

Two invitations are presented to us - one from Wisdom and one from Folly. Both call out, both seem appealing, but only one leads to life.

As I grow older, I begin to see this truth more clearly. We’ve lived long enough to know that not every voice deserves our attention. Some paths that once looked harmless brought regret, while others — though harder — brought peace and lasting joy.

Wisdom still calls to us today. She invites us to keep learning, to stay humble, and to continue walking closely with God. Age does not lessen our need for wisdom.  In fact, the older I get, the more I see a beautiful opportunity to live with clarity, to guide others, and to finish well.

Proverbs 9:10 reminds us, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” That truth never ages. A life centered on God is a life well lived at any stage.

Today, we are still choosing which voice to follow. And choosing wisdom will always lead us toward peace, purpose, and life.

Lord,
Thank You for walking with me through every season of life. Help me to choose wisdom each day. Give me a humble heart that still listens, still learns, and still follows You. Guard me from distractions and from voices that lead away from Your truth.

Let my life reflect Your wisdom so that I may encourage those around me. Help me to finish this journey strong — trusting You, honoring You, and walking in peace.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lord, Lead me to one soul today.
