Wednesday, May 27, 2026 Praying for Purpose (Proverbs 31:16-20)
Good morning, prayer partners-
Proverbs 31:16–20
"She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy."
There is a quiet heroism in these verses. The woman described here is not waiting for the perfect moment or a grander calling. She is present — eyes open to opportunity, hands already moving. She is working for a purpose.
She considers, then acts. She buys a field. She plants. She spins. These are not glamorous tasks, but she does them with her whole self — vigorously, the text says. Her lamp burns late not out of anxiety, but out of devotion to what she has been given to do.
What sstrikes.me most, though, is the turn at the end. After all that industry and diligence, she opens her arms to the poor. Her productivity was never just for herself. The strength she built through purposeful, faithful daily work became the very resource she gave away.
This is a picture of stewardship at its fullest: tend what you've been given, and let the overflow reach others.
Reflect: What work is currently in your hands — perhaps unglamorous, perhaps unfinished — that God is asking you to do vigorously and faithfully today?
Lord, help me be fully present in the work before me. May the discipline and strength I build in ordinary tasks become a gift I can extend to those around me. Keep my lamp burning with purpose, not worry. In the name of the Son, Amen.

Lord, Lead me to one soul today.
