Prayers of Jesus, No. 4 Praying in Solitary Places Mark 1:35

Good morning, Friends:

"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." — Mark 1:35

The day before had been full. Jesus had preached, cast out a demon, healed Peter's mother-in-law, and ministered to a crowd gathered at the door. By any measure, He had earned a morning of rest.

Instead, He rose before dawn and slipped away to be alone with the Father.

This was not Jesus fulfilling an obligation. This was Jesus doing what He could not do without.  He needed to spend time with the source, God, His Father. The more the demands increased, the more deliberately He withdrew.

Busyness is not a reason to skip prayer. For Jesus, it was the reason to pray. Solitude was not His retreat from ministry. Prayer is the engine that drives it.

If Jesus needed prayer, how much more do I need it?

Let's pray:

Lord, the noise of life crowds out so much. Responsibilities & excuses fill my mornings before I've even had a moment with You.

Teach me to rise and seek You first -  before the demands begin, before the noise rises. Draw me to the solitary place where it's just You and me, and remind me that everything flows better from there...  continue to pray your personal prayer.

In Jesus' Precious Name and Because of His Example, Amen.
