Sunday, June 14, 2026 #15 Pray Like Jesus (John 17)
"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you." — John 17:20–21
You were prayed for before you believed.
On the night of His arrest, Jesus looked across every generation that would ever follow Him - including yours - and interceded for you by name in effect if not in word. His request was not for your success or safety, but for something far more wothy - unity.
He prayed that believers would be one - not uniformly identical, but deeply, visibly united - so that a watching world would have evidence of the Father's love.
Division among believers is not merely a relational failure. According to Jesus, it obscures the very proof of the gospel.
His prayer for us has not expired. The question is whether we are living as an answer to it.
Father, I am humbled that Jesus prayed for me before I ever knew Him. Let me not take lightly, Lord, the value of a unity body of belivers. The fact that Jesus wanted us to be one should not go unnoticed - please don't let me forget.
Where I have contributed to division, forgive me. Where I have written off fellow believers, soften my heart. Make me a person who builds unity rather than fractures it, for the sake of a world still watching...
In the Name of Jesus,
Amen
