Jesus Prays for Children and the Humble Matthew 19:13–15



Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.' When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there." — Matthew 19:13–15

Good morning, Prayer Warrior.  This is a great passage to show us how Jesus valued prayer. The disciples saw an interruption. Jesus saw an appointment.

He was busy. Jesus was teaching. He was fielding difficult questions from the Pharisees. He was busy.  Yet when children were brought to Him, He stopped, placed His hands on them, and prayed over each one.

No one important was watching. There was nothing strategic about it. Jesus blessed them simply because they were there and because they were His.

This is the heart of God on full display:  unhurried, tender, unnoticed to the press. Yet, Jesus still stops for those the world rushes past.

Lord, slow me down today. Give me eyes to see the people around me who simply need a moment of Your presence -  the young, the quiet, the easily overlooked. Forgive me for the times I've treated interruptions as inconveniences rather than invitations. 

Make me someone who stops, places a hand, and prays...
