Prayer Starter: Learning to Pray Like Noah

One interesting thing about Noah is that the Bible never records the actual words of his prayers. Instead, it shows us a life that was a prayer - a life of trust, obedience, and worship. After the flood, Noah's first recorded action wasn't building a house or planting crops. He built an altar and worshiped God (Genesis 8:20). His actions reveal the heart of his prayers.

Genesis 8:20–21

"Then Noah built an altar to the Lord... and the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma..."

Noah lived in a world that had forgotten God. For years he faithfully built an ark even though he had never seen a flood. Every hammer strike was an act of faith. Every day of obedience was a prayer that said, "God, I trust You even when I don't understand."

When the flood finally ended and Noah stepped onto dry ground, he could have focused on rebuilding his life. Instead, his first priority was worship. Before building a home, he built an altar.

That's a powerful reminder for us. When God brings us through a difficult season, our first response should be gratitude. When He provides, protects, or carries us through the storm, worship belongs before worry about what's next.

Like Noah, our prayers aren't measured by fancy words but by faithful hearts that trust God, obey Him, and thank Him for His faithfulness.  Let's pray like Noah lived.


Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being faithful through every storm of life. Help me to trust You even when I cannot see what You're doing. Give me the courage to obey You when Your way doesn't make sense to everyone around me.

When You bring me through difficult seasons, remind me to stop and worship before I rush ahead. Fill my heart with gratitude for Your protection, Your mercy, and Your promises.

May my life, like Noah's, become a testimony of faith that points others to You.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Lord, Lead me to one soul today.

Merry Christmas.  Good morning, friend: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us ). — Matthew 1:23 From the very beginning, God’s desire has been to dwell with His people.
