Friday, April 10, 2026 Psalm 119:97-136


 It's Friday! 

Lord, grow in me a deeper love for Your Word—
a love that fills my thoughts and guides my choices each day.
Let Your truth shape how I see the world
and keep my steps from wandering into wrong paths.

Be my light when the way is unclear
and my refuge when I feel surrounded or pressured.
Give me understanding beyond my own ability,
and teach me to recognize and reject what is false.

Help me stay fully devoted to You,
not divided or distracted.
Strengthen me to keep going when I feel weary,
and remind me that Your promises are worth waiting for.

Let my life reflect Your truth,
and break my heart for what breaks Yours.
Guide me, sustain me, and draw me closer to You
through Your living Word. In Jesus precious name,
Amen.


Psalm 119:97–136 (Paraphrase)  NIV

Oh, how I love Your Word—
I think about it all day long.
It makes me wiser than my enemies
because it is always with me.

I have more understanding than my teachers
because I meditate on Your truth.
I gain insight beyond the elders
because I choose to obey Your ways.

I keep my feet from every wrong path
so I can stay true to Your Word.
I don’t turn away from Your instructions,
for You Yourself have taught me.

Your words are sweet to me—
sweeter than honey.
Through Your truth, I gain understanding,
so I reject every false way.

Your Word is a lamp that guides my steps
and a light that shows me the path ahead.
I have committed myself
to follow Your righteous ways.

I have suffered greatly—
give me life again, Lord, as You promised.
Accept my praise,
and teach me Your ways.

My life is constantly in danger,
yet I do not forget Your Word.
The wicked set traps for me,
but I have not wandered from Your truth.

Your Word is my lasting inheritance;
it is the joy of my heart.
I am determined to obey You
all the way to the end.

I reject divided loyalty
and cling to Your truth.
You are my refuge and shield;
my hope is in Your Word.

Stay away from me, you who do evil,
so I can obey the commands of my God.
Sustain me as You promised,
so I may live and not be disappointed in my hope.

Hold me up, and I will be safe,
and I will always focus on Your ways.
You reject those who stray from Your truth,
for their deceit leads nowhere.

You sweep away the wicked like worthless waste;
that’s why I love Your Word.
I stand in awe of You,
and I respect Your judgments.

I have done what is right and just—
do not leave me to my oppressors.
Stand with me and protect me;
don’t let the proud crush me.

My eyes grow tired waiting for Your rescue
and for Your righteous promise to be fulfilled.
Deal with me in Your faithful love
and teach me Your ways.

I am Your servant—give me understanding
so I can know Your truth more deeply.
It is time for You to act, Lord,
for people are ignoring Your Word.

Because of this, I love Your commands
more than gold—more than pure gold.
I consider all Your instructions to be right,
and I hate every false path.

Your Word is wonderful—
that is why I obey it.
The unfolding of Your truth brings light
and gives understanding even to the simple.

I open my mouth and long for Your commands
like someone gasping for air.
Turn to me and show me mercy,
as You always do for those who love You.

Guide my steps by Your Word
so sin will not rule over me.
Rescue me from those who oppress me
so I can fully obey Your ways.

Let Your face shine on me
and teach me Your truth.
My eyes overflow with tears
because people do not follow Your Word.
