Saturday, April 11, 2026 Psalm 119:137-176

 

Holy Lord,    

AS we wrap up this week, we thank You for the majestic poem, the longest chapter in the Bible, to teach us, to remind us, to encourage us.  May we be like the writer - while still a.person who slips and fall, makes mistakes, sins; may we also grow our passion to be like You. May we grow in love with Your Word.

I hope each one of us will overcome our slothfulness and we will dedicate our lives to prayer and study so we will be well equipped to serve You all the days of our lives.

Thank You for Jesus.  Through His power, I pray. AMEN.

Psalm 119:137–176 (Paraphrase)  NIV

Lord, You are righteous,
and everything You decide is right.
The commands You give are just
and completely trustworthy.

My passion for Your truth consumes me
because others ignore Your Word.
Your promises have been tested and proven,
and I deeply love them.

I may seem small and overlooked,
but I do not forget Your ways.
Your righteousness is eternal,
and Your truth is always right.

Trouble and distress surround me,
yet I still find joy in Your commands.
Your truth stands forever—
give me understanding so I may truly live.

I call out to You with all my heart—answer me, Lord,
and I will follow Your ways.
I cry out for Your help—save me,
so I can obey Your truth.

I rise before dawn and cry for help;
I place my hope in Your Word.
Through the night, I stay awake thinking about You,
holding on to Your promises.

Hear my voice because of Your faithful love;
give me life according to Your justice.
Those who chase after evil draw near,
but they are far from Your truth.

Yet You are near, Lord,
and all Your commands are true.
Long ago I learned
that Your Word is eternal.

Look at my suffering and rescue me,
for I have not forgotten Your truth.
Defend me and set me free;
give me life as You promised.

Salvation is far from the wicked
because they do not seek Your ways.
But Your mercy is great, Lord—
give me life according to Your love.

Many oppose me and persecute me,
yet I do not turn away from Your Word.
I grieve when I see those who betray You
and ignore Your truth.

See how I love Your commands, Lord;
in Your faithful love, give me life.
The sum of Your Word is truth,
and every part of it endures forever.

Powerful people persecute me without cause,
but my heart stands in awe of Your Word.
I rejoice in Your truth
like someone who finds great treasure.

I hate falsehood and lies,
but I love Your truth.
Seven times a day I praise You
for Your righteous ways.

Merry Christmas.  Good morning, friend: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us ). — Matthew 1:23 From the very beginning, God’s desire has been to dwell with His people. The promise of Emmanuel - God with us  — is the fulfillment of that longing. In Jesus Christ, God did not remain distant or unreachable. He stepped into our world, our struggles, and our suffering.
