Monday, June 29, 2026 Praying

I looked into why so many of us struggle to pray, and the #1 answer was basically: "I have no idea what to say." Sound familiar? You end up praying the same things on repeat until it feels pointless, and eventually you just stop trying altogether.

Here's what's actually helped me: praying through the Bible. Think of prayer as a conversation - except God already started it. He's been talking to us this whole time through His Word. So praying isn't about coming up with something profound to say first. It's just responding to what He already said (through the reading of His Word).

Honestly, that takes so much pressure off. I don't need to feel "spiritual" or have it together before I pray. I just open the Bible, read a bit, and talk to God about it. That's it. That's the whole system.  If you just found our prayers, go back to our home page and find our prayers responding to the Psalms or Proverbs).

You can respond to literally anything you read in Scripture, but the prayers already written in the Bible are next-level useful. They're Spirit-inspired, so they show you what God actually cares about when it comes to prayer - and they give you words when you're fresh out of your own.

Philippians 4:6-7:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Praying it back might sound like this:

"God, You're telling me not to be anxious about anything—but honestly, I'm anxious about a lot right now. [Name the specific things weighing on you—a job, a relationship, money, your health.] You say I can bring this to You instead of carrying it myself, so I'm doing that right now. I'm not going to pretend everything's fine. I'm just handing You what's actually on my mind.

And thank You—for the things that are still good, even in the middle of this. [Name one or two.]

You promise peace that doesn't even make logical sense given my situation. I want that. Guard my heart and my mind today. Don't let me spiral. Help me actually trust You instead of just saying I do."

Thank You for listening to me. In Your Son's Name, Amen.

Lord, Lead me to one soul today.
